Image licensing
The photographs on this site are protected and are not royalty-free. They can be licensed, individually or as a set, for a defined usage, duration and territory.
What a licence covers
A licence grants a named usage, for a named duration, across a named territory. The three are negotiated together and written into the contract. Website, social media, booking platforms, press, editorial, out-of-home and packaging each count as a separate usage.
A licence never transfers ownership of the work. The author’s moral right stays attached to the image, which means the photo credit must appear wherever the medium allows it.
What a licence does not cover
Resale, sub-licensing to a third party, deposit in a stock library, use as training data for a machine-learning model and any substantial alteration of the image fall outside a standard licence and require separate written agreement.
Photographs showing identifiable people, private interiors or third-party trademarks may be subject to additional permissions held by their rights holders. Those limits are stated case by case.
The credit reads “Photography: Ahoueke Hilaire” and, on digital media, links to ahouekehilaire.com. IPTC metadata embedded in delivered files carries the creator, the copyright notice and the address of these terms.
Acquiring a licence
Tell me which image, and the usage, duration and territory you need. A costed proposal follows within 24 working hours. For an image originally produced for a client, that client’s agreement may be required before any new exploitation.
