Events

Launches, activations, parties and competitions. Every image on this page was made live, during the event, with nothing re-staged.

Launches, brand activations and parties. Event coverage happens once: the light drops, service moves on, and nothing can be re-staged the next day.

A night cannot be re-run

An event is photographed at the room’s tempo, never at the photographer’s. The light changes when the doors open, service speeds up, and a gesture you missed cannot be asked again of someone who is working.

So everything is decided beforehand. Find the light while the room is still empty, choose where you will stand during the speech, and know which pictures have to exist whatever happens. The rest is attention.

One shoot, three uses

A single evening feeds three needs that do not share a frame. Social wants vertical and faces. Press wants wide shots that place the room. The brand wants its products sharp and its logotype legible.

Planning for all three during the night costs far less than reshooting one the next day, once the set is struck and the guests have gone.

Every format sets its own constraint

A competition allows no second take: at Jack Daniel’s Last Round, each finalist had four minutes to build four cocktails in front of a jury. That is the length of a gesture, not of a set-up.

A product launch asks the opposite: the packshot has to exist before the room fills, and bottle and cocktail images are made calmly, while the bar is still being built.
